Pier Domenico Giani, classe 1938, diplomato all’Istituto di Belle Arti di Vercelli in sbalzo, artista affermato ha infatti al suo attivo numerose personali e rassegne; nel corso della sua carriera è stato insignito di innumerevoli premi e riconoscimenti.
Si rivela "maestro" nella tecnica dell’encausto (dal greco en-kàio = imprimo col fuoco, dipingo a encausto) consistente nello stendere i colori mischiati a cera riscaldata. L’encausto perfezionato nel secolo IV a.c. era la tecnica pittorica più diffusa nel mondo antico; cadde in disuso nei secc. VIII – IX; i suggestivi encausti di Pier Domenico creano il sapore antico riscontrando consenso di pubblico e critica.

Pier Domenico Giani was born in 1938 and graduated from the Istituto di Belle Arti in Vercelli in ambossing. an established artist, he has had many one-man and joint exhibitions. during his career he has received many prizes and awards.
He is a master in the use of encaustic painting (from the greek word en-kàio, which means "burn in") which consists of painting with wax colours and fixing them with heat. encaustic painting was perfected in the fourth century bc and was most widesprid technique used in the ancient world but fell into disuse in the eighth-ninth centuries. pier domenico’s encaustic works recreate the atmosphere of the ancients and delight both public and critics alike.
